A beautiful place that I visited multiple times during my MBBS days at Silchar Medical College, as my friends were studying here. However, it’s disappointing that the security guards at the university gate don’t allow visitors to enter with bikes. They insist on calling friends to meet outside instead. Who made such a rule that prevents us from meeting our friends inside the university? I’ve visited several universities but have never faced such inconvenience.

Assam University is a beautiful campus surrounded by lush greenery, providing a peaceful environment for learning. The faculty is knowledgeable, and the academic programs are well-structured. The library and research facilities are commendable, though infrastructure maintenance could be improved. Public transport connectivity is also good, overall, it's a great place for higher education in the Northeast.

The university is remote for the rest of Assam, but for the people of Barak Valley it's a source of education, livelihood, money and what not. The institute has resulted in blooming of the economy nearby. The teachers are generous and cooperative. They understand the hardships students undergo and the decisions mostly favour them. Has an ambient environment for studying. Admissions usually takes place through national examinations. University level entrance examinations for admission are for a handful of courses only.
