BHU Admission Process

Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, admits students to UG, PG, professional, diploma, and PhD programs mainly through national-level entrance exams like CUET-UG, CUET-PG, NEET-UG, and CAT, along with its own tests such as RET for PhD and university-level tests for diplomas. The process is largely online and centralized via BHU’s Samarth-based portals (e.g., bhucuet.samarth.edu.in for UG and bhucuetpg.samarth.edu.in for PG).

The various stages of the BHU admission process are detailed below:

Application: Candidates first apply for the relevant entrance exam via the respective official website. This involves providing personal, residential, academic and contact details, while filling in course and college preferences. Candidates are also required to register separately on the BHU counselling portal.

Selection: BHU prepares program-wise merit lists and cut-offs based on entrance scores. For most UG and PG courses, merit is determined directly from CUET scores. In programs like MBA, additional factors such as group discussion, and personal interview may be considered along with the CAT score. Only candidates who have registered on the BHU portal and filled preferences are included in the shortlisting process.

Counselling: BHU conducts online centralized counselling through its Combined Allotment Program (CAP) portals. Candidates who had registered on the BHU counselling portal are allotted seats based on merit, preferences, and availability. Allotted candidates must pay the fees and submit required documents to confirm their seat.
