Went there for an exam conducted by BEL. Could reach there easily from Majestic or KSR via bus (I had to go to Hebbal and get another bus from there to get to the stop Nagenahalli gate, doesn't know if any easier route exists). By the looks the campus is great, spacious, clean and beautiful with lots of tress. The infrastructure also looked top class in the block I've went, everything looked so new.

A good place to study at! The teachers are pretty helpful too. There is one cafetaria and two other eateries. The playing ground is also pretty big. One can easily find a PG or a house in an appartment nearby without much hassle. There are college buses along with rented BMTC buses which travel to most parts of the city. Also the Avallahali bus stand is right in front of the college and you have direct buses coming from KR Market and KBS so transport will not be an issue.

Frequently Asked Questions
What entrance exams are accepted for BE admission at BMSIT Bangalore?
For BE, BMSIT accepts KCET and COMEDK UGET ranks through their respective counselling processes. A minimum of 45% in 12th PCM is required (higher for management quota), and students must also meet VTU eligibility norms for engineering admission.
How does the seat distribution work for BE at BMSIT (government, private, management)?
For BE, around 45% seats are filled through KCET (government quota), 30% through COMEDK (private quota), and about 25% are under the management quota. Management seats involve higher tuition fees and are allotted by BMS Educational Trust.
Is it compulsory to write an entrance test for BMSIT management quota BE admission?
Even for management quota BE seats, candidates must have appeared in at least one entrance exam such as KCET, COMEDK or JEE and have 60% aggregate in Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics plus an approved optional subject.
What is the approximate annual tuition fee for a BE seat at BMSIT through KCET vs COMEDK vs management?
Karnataka CET merit seats typically have the lowest annual tuition (in the range charged by VTU-affiliated private colleges), COMEDK seats carry a higher fee, and management quota tuition is substantially higher than both; the exact branch-wise amount is published on the official BMSIT website each year.
Does BMSIT provide any scholarships or fee concessions to students?
BMSIT students can access government scholarships such as VIDYASIRI and post‑matric schemes based on category and income, and the institution processes these through its scholarship section; any BMS management or alumni‑supported scholarships are notified on the college notice boards and website.
Can I easily get an education loan for studying at BMSIT?
BMSIT is a VTU‑affiliated and AICTE‑approved institute, so nationalized banks generally sanction education loans against the official fee structure and admission letter; an Allahabad Bank branch on campus helps students with loan documentation and fee payments.
How are BMSIT placements in terms of average and highest packages?
Recent BE batches have seen more than 90% of eligible students placed in core and IT roles, with average CSE/ISE packages in the mid–single digit lakh range per annum and top offers from product companies crossing ₹20 lakh per annum in some years.
Which major companies recruit from BMSIT during campus placements?
Recruiters include IT services and product firms such as TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, Accenture, IBM, as well as companies in domains like Bosch and other engineering firms; many visit regularly through the centralized BMS group recruitment network.
Does BMSIT support internships and industry projects during the BE program?
The Training and Placement Cell coordinates internships in 3rd and 4th year, and many students take up summer or final‑semester internships in Bengaluru‑based IT and core companies; VTU‑mandated project work is often done in collaboration with industry or research labs.
How rigorous is the academic curriculum and exam pattern at BMSIT?
BMSIT follows the Visvesvaraya Technological University CBCS syllabus with 8 semesters, internal assessments and VTU end‑semester exams. Each semester mixes theory, labs and mini‑projects, and attendance above 75% per subject is mandatory to write exams.
What specializations/branches are most preferred at BMSIT for BE?
Popular BE branches include Computer Science, Information Science, Electronics and Communication, Artificial Intelligence–related programs and Mechanical Engineering. Cutoffs for CSE, ISE and AI‑related branches are typically the highest in KCET and COMEDK rounds.
How is the faculty quality and teaching style at BMSIT?
Most departments have a mix of PhD‑qualified and postgraduate faculty with VTU and industry experience. Teaching combines classroom lectures, labs, mini‑projects and NPTEL or MOOC content, with regular internal tests and assignments.
What are the hostel facilities and room types at BMSIT for boys and girls?
BMSIT hostels can accommodate about 502 boys and 120 girls, with fully furnished double‑occupancy rooms for boys and multi‑sharing rooms for girls. Boys’ hostels are on campus, while the girls’ hostel is off‑campus with dedicated bus facilities.
How is the food quality in BMSIT hostel and college food court?
The hostel mess serves vegetarian food with fixed North and South Indian menus, and the on‑campus food court seats over 200 students at a time with multi‑cuisine options, snacks, juices and ice creams at student‑friendly prices under monitored hygiene standards.
What kind of clubs, sports and cultural activities does BMSIT offer?
BMSIT hosts technical clubs, coding and robotics groups, cultural and music clubs and sports teams for football, cricket, basketball, badminton and more. Annual fests, intra‑college events and national‑level competitions are organized in the auditorium and sports grounds.
Is ragging a concern at BMSIT, and how is student safety handled?
BMSIT enforces UGC anti‑ragging regulations with a dedicated committee, CCTV surveillance in hostels, separate wardens, and strict disciplinary action for violations. The campus has first‑aid, fire‑safety systems and transport arrangements to enhance student safety.
How do most students commute to BMSIT from Bangalore city areas?
A significant number use college buses that run on multiple routes from different parts of Bengaluru to the Yelahanka campus, while others rely on BMTC buses and personal two‑wheelers; parking and shuttle services are provided inside campus.
Is there any dress code at BMSIT for regular classes or labs?
BMSIT does not impose a strict uniform for regular theory classes, but students are expected to dress decently; in labs and workshops, closed shoes and protective gear such as lab coats are mandatory where specified by the department.
Do I need to bring a personal laptop for studying at BMSIT?
Personal laptops are strongly recommended, especially for CSE, ISE, ECE and AI branches, as coding, simulations and project work are frequent. The campus also has Wi‑Fi, computer labs and a digital library with desktops for students who do not have devices.
How does BMSIT compare with BMSCE and other top VTU colleges in Bangalore?
BMSIT is generally considered slightly below BMSCE in age and overall brand but strong among VTU‑affiliated engineering colleges in Bengaluru, with competitive cutoffs in CSE‑related branches, good placements, a green 21‑acre campus and active student life.
Is BMSIT worth the higher COMEDK or management fee in terms of ROI?
For branches like CSE, ISE and ECE, consistent placement rates above 90%, multiple offers for many students and entry‑level packages in the ₹4–8 lakh per annum band give a reasonable return on investment over a few years, especially for Bengaluru‑based roles.
