Dr. Gour Mohan Roy College is a very famous Institution of Higher Learning in Purba Bardhaman. The College was established on 28.11.1986 with the main objective of disseminating knowledge and catering to the needs of the students of the district. It is a multi-faculty college and is recognized under 2f and 12-B of UGC, Act 1956 in 21.09.1994. It has twelve UG departments, one Ladies Hostel, one play ground and nice campus. Today there are nearly 3600 students in our college. Performance graph of all Departments in The University of Burdwan Examination is satisfactory. There are eleven UG Departments : Arts - Bengali, English, Sanskrit, Political Science, Philosophy, History, Sociology, Education, Physical Education, Economics and Geography and One UG Department : Commerce -Accountancy. As an Institution committed to all-round and inclusive education,all the categories like Socially and Financially marginalized(ST, SC, OBC-A, OBC-B), Sportsmen, Singers, Dancers, Debaters etc. categories are given special considerations. From the Academic Session 2020-2021 there are sufficient professors in almost all departments. Dr. Gour Mohan Roy College aims at forming men and women empowered to usher in an inclusive society based on the principles of justice ,liberty,equality and fraternity as enshrined in the Constitution of India.
