More About TMC
Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram is widely recognized for its significant contributions to medical education and healthcare. Established in 1951 and dedicated by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, it stands as Kerala's first and oldest medical college, holding a distinguished legacy as a premier government institution. Affiliated with the Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur, and approved by the National Medical Commission, the college offers a comprehensive range of programs including MBBS, MD, MS, DM, and M.Ch, alongside various B.Sc and diploma courses in allied health sciences. Renowned for its academic excellence and experienced faculty, the college provides a robust learning environment on its sprawling 139-acre campus, featuring modern infrastructure like well-equipped laboratories, spacious lecture halls, a vast central library, research facilities, and separate hostel accommodation for male and female students. The attached Government Medical College Hospital, a major tertiary care center in the region, ensures extensive clinical exposure and practical training opportunities due to its substantial patient volume and diverse medical cases. Consistently ranked among the top medical institutions in the country, it secured the 42nd position in the Medical category by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2024. Graduates pursue successful careers in government services, private healthcare sectors, or opt for advanced studies after completing a mandatory one-year rotating medical internship within the hospital, which provides a monthly stipend. The average graduate salary outcome was reported around 18 LPA based on 2021-22 data. The college fosters a vibrant campus life with ample opportunities for extracurricular activities, contributing to the holistic development of students.

I'm extremely satisfied with the exceptional care and service I received at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. The doctors, nurses, and staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and caring, providing top-notch treatment in a clean and well-maintained facility. I highly recommend this hospital to anyone seeking quality medical care, and I'd like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the staff who made a significant difference in my mother's recovery.

Too late for all the things. For ICU patients also facing long ques. Too much need to improve from Kerala Government. No cleaning not hygienic all the areas filled with wastes, dusts. As a Government Medical College its a poor and low quality hospital

Treatment and doctors were excellent. Need to improve the facilities and tech. Medical college premises are full of wastes which includes food , plastic and other. Authorities should take action on this. They have to construct/ provide some places to bystanders /relatives coming with patients in medical college.
