According to NIRF 2020 rankings, NITC has been ranked 23rd and 3rd in the Engineering and Architecture discipline respectively.Taking each aspect one by one :Food: Lemme put the worst at first. Um, see if you are expecting the food to be lip-smacking then IITs and NITs are just not the right places. It doesn’t matter whether you are a Malayali, Non-Malayali, or an extraterrestrial creature, the mess food’s NOT delicious. However, things will start to get better after the first year. You will be given a plethora of options to choose from a variety of messes. Mini, Mega canteen, Bakehouse, or Smokeys will be life-savers. BONUS point: If you are a chicken lover, ignore everything said above.Hostels: For 1st year, you will have 4 people in a room meant for 3 people. So yeah, it’s a bit tight. Hostels are old, but not bad. Sophomores are allotted a two-seater room in Mega hostel.Weather: It’s heaven’s favorite spot to cry upon. You have rains from August to November. Want to spot an NITCian? Look out for people with umbrellas. The temperature is not too hot nor too cold. It also becomes humid though. The weather is not as bad as it sounds. In fact, you might enjoy it. P.S: Winter is a myth hereAcademics: Afraid that you might not be able to understand the accent of lecturers? Well, there is nothing to worry about the lecturers. Most of them are well educated as easily comprehensible. One thing that might worry you initially will be the quality of lectures. you will learn the art of studying 2 days before exams. Actually, Academics is considered to be a plus point of NITC P.S(again): I know, there is a contradiction.Crowd: So we all have so many stereotypes about Kerala and Mallus. Putting them to rest, you will realize that Keralites are one of the friendliest and helpful peeps out there. Don’t worry, you will have students from all over the country. The vibe is gonna be awesome.Campus and campus life: NITC has a good and easy-going environment. People are lazy on most of the days, but during fests, you just gotta look at the craze. The campus remains lively right throughout the day. Spread over 300 acres, NITC has one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. If you love nature, you won’t be disappointed. All the basic necessities and commodities can be availed from the market present outside the campus or city. Ohh, I forgot, there is also a beach nearby. People might pinpoint that ragging is still prevalent. Um, yeah it is present in the campus but generally, it’s mild. It’s generally fun and helps one to open up. Ragging is basically state wise, and if you don’t wanna go for ragging, you have the chance of opting out of the state. You might see a lot of people bashing this institution. Well, appeasing everyone is impossible. I am not saying that this college has no drawbacks. It has, in fact many. But I guess it has many advantages over fewer drawbacks.

Went to NIT Calicut for a paper presentation based on nanotechnology. The campus is vast like you will actually need a cycle to go from one point to another (but we walked) and at the same time it's peacefull and full of natural vibes, a good place to study. There is lot of amenities and the canteen has awesome food. Me and my friends stayed at their international hostel which had good facilities and also had a separate canteen. Once you enter the campus you can feel the energetic atmosphere which can't be explained with words. The playgrounds were vast and even we were allowed to play with the students there. Conclusion : Work-Play-Study repeat
