NIT Hamirpur, a prestigious engineering institute, has a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1986. Originally known as Regional Engineering College (REC) Hamirpur, it was later upgraded to its current status as a National Institute of Technology. The institute's picturesque campus, nestled amidst the Shivalik Hills, provides a serene and inspiring environment for learning. The breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys offer a refreshing break from academic pursuits. The serene atmosphere, combined with modern facilities, creates an ideal setting for focused study and holistic development. While the remote location might limit exposure to diverse cultural experiences and internship opportunities, it also offers a unique advantage: a peaceful and distraction-free environment. Students can immerse themselves in their studies without the usual urban distractions. For those seeking a tranquil and academically rigorous environment, NIT Hamirpur offers a promising opportunity to pursue engineering excellence.

As an M.Tech graduate from NIT Hamirpur’s Center for Energy Engineering, I strongly advise students to avoid this institute, especially for postgraduate programs. The placement scenario is extremely poor—almost nonexistent for master’s students. The administration shows zero concern for student futures. Since it’s a government institution, the staff gets paid regardless of whether students succeed or suffer. The Center for Energy Department is highly neglected-no proper labs, no research guidance, and absolutely no industrial connection or placement support. The environment is demotivating and the faculty lacks accountability.Their ranking is also falling year by year, now standing below 150.

One of the best NIT in India.Campus is just mind-blowing. Best place for someone who wants to achieve something big in his life. A lot of opportunities for students for everything whether it's research, innovation, placements, entrepreneurship, sports or anything.

Campus is quite beautiful because of its location. Infrastructure is awesome and u have to shred some sweat while going from one department to another. The lab i have visited are non air conditioned and rest i dont know. U will surely enjoy the beautiful scenery while your academic session completes. Also transiting is quite terrible in case u need to go in emergency. Overall good NIT.
