Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Is JEE Main mandatory for B.Tech admission through RGPV?
JEE Main is required for admission into Btech and BArch courses in RGPV. After the exam, qualified students appear for MP B.Tech counselling, which allocates seats on the basis of JEE Main rank. However, DTE MP also conducts a separate merit-based round (Class 12 PCM marks) for fill-up of vacant seats after the JEE Main rounds.
What percentage of seats at RGPV colleges are reserved for MP domicile students?
90% of seats in RGPV courses are reserved for MP domicile candidates — students who have studied Class 10 and Class 12 in Madhya Pradesh or hold a valid MP domicile certificate. 5% are open to all-India and NRI candidates. The remaining 5% 5% supernumerary seats are available under Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) scheme of AICTE. Further one seat each is reserved for J&K Migrants and J&K Resident category.
What is the fee for B.Tech at UIT-RGPV (government campus)?
The latest notification on the UIT-RGPV website declared BTech fees around Rs. 33,520 (1st year, 2nd year lateral), Rs. 32,985 (2nd and 3rd year) and Rs. 33,235 (4th Year) for general category students. This includes tuition fee, college fee and university fee with multiple components. Students from SC/ST/OBC and other eligible categories are also offered tuition fee waivers.
Can I change my branch after getting admission through DTE MP counselling?
Branch change after admission is governed by individual college rules, not DTE MP. Most RGPV-affiliated colleges allow branch change at the end of the first year based on first-year academic performance (GPA/CGPA) and seat availability in the desired branch. A minimum CGPA (typically 8.0 or above) and a vacant seat in the target branch are usually required. The college's internal branch change policy should be verified before admission.
What happens if I don't report to the allotted college within the deadline?
Non-reporting within the specified deadline results in automatic cancellation of the allotment. The seat goes back into the pool and may be offered to the next candidate in the next round. Counselling fees paid are also typically non-refundable in case of no-show. Always report within the 3–4 day window specified in the allotment letter.
