Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) is the premier institution for higher education in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. The University was converted into a Central University with effect from 9th April 2007 as per notification of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Arunachal Pradesh is bordering with other states like Assam. The University is located atop Rono Hills on a picturesque tableland of 302 acres overlooking the river Dikrong. It offer wide array of courses at PG, MPhil and PhD levels. It is welll recognised in North East part of India and moving constantly toward excellency. RGU is 25 km away from Itanagar, the State capital. The campus is linked with the National Highway. A person can reach RGU from GUWAHATI, DIBRUGARH & LILABARI airports / Railway stations as per following; Nearby Airports: 1. Lilabari (North Lakhimpur) 50 km apart (Only one flight operates from Kolkata ) 2. Dibrugarh Airport 180 km apart 3. Guwahati Airport 380 km apart Flights are available to Guwahati, Dibrugarh from major cities of India. Nearby Railway Station 1. Harmuti (13 Km apart) 2. Naharlagun (12km apart) A person can avail Day super, Night super Buses and Reserve taxi/Share Taxi from Guwahati Airport to Itanagar. Trains are available from Guwahati (@ 9:20 PM) to Naharlagun every day. Even trains are available from Guwahati to Harmuty railway station in Assam. From Dibrugarh airport to reach Rajiv Gandhi University a person can avail Taxi, share taxi, bus etc. From Lilabari airport, which is in North Lakhimpur, Assam, (only Air India flight from Kolkata to Lilabari) a person can reach Rajiv Gandhi University by the reserve taxi/ auto etc. Nirjuli town ship is 5 kilometres from RGU. The University is situated in Doimukh Township with all basic facilities. A person can contact following Hotels for accommodation.
