Mumbai University Hostel Fees 2026

Mumbai University operates six hostels across its Kalina and Fort campuses for male and female students. These include four girls' hostels: New Girls Hostel, Savitribai Phule Hostel, Madam Kama Girls Hostel, and Maharshi Dhondo Keshav Karve Girls Hostel. For boys, two hostels are available: Karmveer Bhaurao Patil Hostel and Jagannath Shankarshet Hostel. Furthermore, the university hiked hostel fees by 74% in 2024, the first revision since 2008, to ensure financial sustainability while keeping costs affordable.​

Overall, boys' hostel fees are approximately Rs. 11,500/year and girls' hostel fees are approximately Rs. 9,300/year, inclusive of room rent and electricity charges. Additionally, mess charges and caution money deposits are payable separately at the time of admission.

Mumbai University offers distance and online education through its Centre for Distance and Open Education (CDOE), formerly known as the Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL). The CDOE is UGC-DEB approved and currently offers 35 programmes across UG, PG, and PG Diploma levels. Furthermore, since all programmes are offered in distance or online mode, they are especially suitable for working professionals, homemakers, and students in remote areas who cannot attend regular classes.​

Admission to CDOE runs in two sessions annually: January and July. The July 2026 session is expected to begin in June 2026.
