Adding to this distress, I encountered shocking discrimination: while Apollo accommodates international patients by allowing 10–20 attendants each, I—despite being the father of a patient undergoing daycare surgery—was denied entry as a single attendant. Such inconsistency is unacceptable.Insurance Department WoesThe insurance department operates in an archaic manner, relying on manual processes and paper forms, with no standardized procedures. Staff members appeared clueless about the process, leaving patients to bear the brunt of inefficiencies. The government should intervene and investigate this sorry state of affairs, where hospitals effectively hold patients hostage as collateral.Deceptive Insurance PracticesBefore admission, patients are assured that all insurance policies are accepted. However, after treatment, a relentless tussle ensues between the hospital and insurance companies, forcing patients to overstay. Insurance companies try to underpay claims, while hospitals benefit from prolonged patient stays and excessive charges. This unethical practice compounds the ordeal for patients who are already vulnerable and seeking care.

Apollo Hospitals carved a niche for themselves being one of first corporate hospitals in India. They have grown in popularity and operate multiple locations of multi speciality hospitals.
