Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University, known as DSNLU or NLU Visakhapatnam, stands as a reputable state-level institution for legal studies in India. Established in 2008 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, the university is recognized by the University Grants Commission and approved by the Bar Council of India, marking its adherence to national standards. Located in Visakhapatnam, the university campus spans 45.5 acres. DSNLU offers a range of programs at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, including the flagship five-year integrated BA LLB (Hons), the one-year LLM with various specializations, and PhD and LLD degrees. A three-year LLB program has also been introduced from the 2024-25 academic year. Admission to the BA LLB (Hons) and LLM programs is primarily through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), while PhD admissions involve a university entrance exam or national level tests. The curriculum is designed to provide comprehensive legal education with an emphasis on research, practical training, and critical thinking, supported by experienced faculty. The university campus provides a conducive environment for learning with infrastructure facilities including an air-conditioned academic block, a well-stocked library, moot court hall, seminar halls, and hostel accommodation for both boys and girls. DSNLU also promotes student development through various activities, moot court competitions, and legal aid initiatives. DSNLU has received recognition in national rankings, being ranked 39th in Law by NIRF in 2024 and 33rd by IIRF in 2025. The university has a dedicated placement cell that facilitates internships and placements for students. According to the NIRF 2025 report, the median salary for placed students was INR 7.50 LPA. DSNLU aims to produce skilled legal professionals equipped for diverse career paths in the legal field and beyond.
