The grounds and buildings of the college are good. It was established on first August, 1951. The three main founders were Pandit Binodananda Jha, Sri Umapati Banerjee and Sri Krishna Nand Shahay. It is affiliated to the Sidu Kanhu Murmu University, Dumka (SKMU ). SKMU was founded on 10/01/1992. The University came under the Government of Jharkhand when a new State of Jharkhand was formed in the year 2000. The college imparts under graduate and post graduate courses. It also has an IGNOU center.
