Loyola College of Education, Namchi is recognized for its contribution to teacher education in Sikkim. Established in 1993 at the request of the Government of Sikkim, it was the first college of higher learning in the South District and the first higher educational center for teacher education in the state. A private, Catholic, Minority institution managed by the Sikkim Jesuits, it is affiliated with Sikkim University and recognized by NCTE and UGC under Section 2(f). The college offers Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), Master of Arts in Education (MA in Education), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programs. Admission involves merit-based selection, interview, and a college entrance test. The 2022 prospectus indicates seat capacities of 100 for B.Ed, 30 for MA, and 10 for Ph.D. Situated on a 10-acre campus in Namchi, the college provides infrastructure including a library, labs, auditorium, and hostels.
