The Sanskrit College in Mysore was established by Krishnaraja Wodeyar III, the Maharaja of Mysore. After his passing, his successor, Chamaraja Wodeyar, formally inaugurated a Sanskrit school in 1876. The college offers courses in Veda, Agama, and Shastra through traditional methods, preserving ancient knowledge.The campus houses one of the oldest collections of Sanskrit manuscripts. The duration of the courses ranges from two to thirteen years, with the minimum age for enrollment being eight years.Notable alumni of the college include Mysore M. Vasudevacharya, Bharat Ratna Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, Prof. S. Hiriyanna, Maharaja Jayachamaraja Wodeyar, and Naveenam Venkatesha Sastry.
