Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) was established in 1962 under the Punjab Agricultural University Act, with the goal of advancing agricultural education and research in the state of Punjab. The formation of PAU was a significant step in addressing the agricultural needs of the region, particularly in the wake of the Green Revolution, which sought to improve food security and agricultural productivity.Initially, PAU inherited the infrastructure and resources of the erstwhile Punjab Agricultural College and Research Institute (PACRI) in Lyallpur (now Faisalabad, Pakistan), which had been a major center for agricultural research since its founding in 1909. Following the partition of India in 1947, the Indian government decided to establish a new agricultural university in Punjab to continue and expand upon the work of PACRI.PAU quickly became a leading institution in agricultural research, contributing significantly to the development of high-yielding crop varieties, improved farming techniques, and integrated pest management. Its research efforts have played a crucial role in transforming Punjab into one of India's most agriculturally productive regions. The university also played a key role in the dissemination of agricultural knowledge through extension services, helping farmers adopt modern practices and technologies. Over the decades, PAU has expanded its academic and research programs, contributing to advancements in various fields such as biotechnology, soil science, and environmental management. Its influence extends beyond Punjab, impacting agricultural practices and policies at the national level.::Chat.G.P.T::
