Its origins trace back to the erstwhile Shri Raghunath Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, which was taken over by the then Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan in 1971. Following the Sansthan's upgrade to a Central University, it was renamed Shri Ranbir Campus. The institution is dedicated to the promotion of Sanskrit language and traditional Indian knowledge systems, while also integrating modern subjects. The campus offers a range of programs from the undergraduate level (Prak-Shastri, Shastri equivalent to B.A.) to postgraduate (Acharya equivalent to M.A., Shiksha Shastri equivalent to B.Ed., Shiksha Acharya equivalent to M.Ed.) and doctoral research (Vidyavaridhi equivalent to Ph.D.). It houses seven functioning departments covering core areas like Vyakarana, Jyotisha, Sahitya, Sarvadarshana, Shiksha Shastra, and Veda, alongside other units. Spread across 10.50 acres, the campus provides key infrastructure including a library, computer lab, hostels for boys and girls, a gymnasium, and facilities for sports.
