I liked the apt responses and the efficiency of the staff during my visit. Though it is a busy place they were quick to resolve my queries.Met with the registrar and VC as well and i was amazed by their welcoming nature and swiftness in taking actions.

The city is bustling and a hub for many other towns and villages across Sikkim. You will find a few shops at MG Marg a crowded and bustling street. Do try a few restaurants for some Tibetan / Nepali food here. (It's difficult to get it at other villages or towns you would visit up north).

A decent Central university at the capital of Sikkim, Gangtok. Although this isn't it's permanent campus, permanent campus is long under construction at Yangang, South Sikkim. In Gangtok, the so called university campus or departments is spread across various different rented buildings all the way from 6th Mile till little above of Gangtok M.G Marg and hence to facilitate the movement of students and teachers university provides bus services although it runs occassionally on time. Due to it being the temporary campus the infrastructure isn't that great as it should be of Central university. Also there is a huge problem with the hostel to students ratio as getting hostels are more competitive than seats at your desired course and this adds upto an really expensive deal even though we are studying under central university.I myself was a Master's student from the Department of Microbiology of this university. Our department was located in New Science Building, Gairi Gaon. The department is well equipped although the functionality of the fancy ones is highly seasonal and based on when you visited the department. As of my experience I haven't seen the fancy ones being worked upon or used in my entire two years of stay at the department. The department is supported by good and experienced teaching faculty as well as highly supportive laboratory assistants. Also, due to the less space the department feels a little cramped up sometimes to work alongside a full class of students.Overall, still it was a good experience studying here at this university with its share of few downsides. Although as the permanent campus is in the pipeline I hope, it will only get better with time.
