The university was established by the Legislative Assembly of the government of Tamil Nadu in Act 27 of 2002 to provide access to higher education for those who had been previously unable to pursue it.[1] It opened in 2003,[2] was recognized by the University Grants Commission in September 2015,[3] and is one of five universities approved to offer distance learning outside its state of establishment.

If you are planning for distance education, consider twice before you opt for this university ..you will not get any proper response from them for any clarification ..books will not get delivered on time, if you are in Chennai ..your exam center will be given at Chennai border.. But fees will be collected on time ..

Hey future endeavours, i am happy that you found my comments which will definitely save you from this Worst University. Please keep this University away from your radar. One of the worst management i have ever seen. Will tell you some of those of you opt this,1) You will receive calls to pay the fees.2) you won't receive the books to study. And you can't even try to reach them back.3) You may pay the exam fee and attend the exam. But you won't get the degree certificate. And you can't even try to reach them back.Don't ever believe that your regional centre will take care. One thing they will do is collect the fee and make it disappear.
