TATA INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES is a multi-campus research University. TISS was established in 1936 by Dorabji Tata to create human service Professionals to work with and enable people overcome poverty, deprivation and unemployment.The institute keeps the vision alive through its extensive teaching, research, policy support, and field action programmes. TISS has received a consistently high appreciation for academic excellence and is counted amongst the best universities in the country.This green campus situated in Deonar Area of Mumbai with easy road, rail links, near railway stations are Chembur and Govandi. The institute is highly ranked in NAAC, NIRF, ARIIA and other international ratings and have an inclusive student friendly teaching and support staff. admission offered through rigorous entrance test .

Love this campus. There is so many ancient trees which increases the beauty of the campus. Campus have diversity in human beings , diversity in animals. You found cants, dogs, monkeys, crows here. Animal club is voluntary group run by students of TISS take care those animals.Students from across India and abroad come here to study Social sciences. Here is verious Master Programs, M Phil programes and PhD programs aviliable also short term courses. This campus run by Government of India and Tata Trust. Campus established in 1936. Social Work courses and Human Resource Management is famous here. Library is one of the best part of campus.

I was at TISS for a short term study program in cooperation with their International Relations Office. I was very happy not only with the beautiful campus that served as an oasis inside Mumbai, but also with the way they organized everything for us, from busses to local contacts to lectures. Even the food in the guest house canteen was quite good. The hostel room only had basic three-bed facilities with a public bathroom, but everything was cleaned regularly.In the week we were there they had an amazing photo exhibition on campus and hosted a gender week with interesting events every evening. I loved their wide and progressive focus!Would recommend to go there, for a short or a long time.
