Established on August 5, 1997, it holds affiliation with the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong. Founded by the Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Synod, Mihngi, it operates as a religious minority institution, named in honour of Rev. Thomas Jones I, known as the father of the Khasi Alphabet, acknowledging his significant contribution to education in the region. TJSC offers a range of undergraduate programs across key streams: Arts, Commerce, and Science, with a total of 13 courses available. Disciplines include English, History, Political Science, Khasi, Education, Philosophy, Economics, Commerce (Accounting and Finance), Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, and Mathematics. Admission is primarily based on academic merit in the 10+2 examination, accepting results from MBOSE HSSLC and CBSE 12th boards.
