AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE, Nagapattinam, established in 2021 under Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore, is a notable institution in the coastal region. While currently functioning from a temporary facility, significant plans are in motion for the development of a permanent campus on 40 acres of leased land in Kilvelur taluk. This future campus aims to provide comprehensive infrastructure including administrative blocks, modern lecture halls, well-equipped laboratories, separate hostel facilities for boys and girls, dining amenities, a hospital, canteen, staff quarters, a farm office, storage godowns, polyhouse, greenhouse, and various field laboratories to support advanced learning and research initiatives. The primary academic offering is the four-year B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture program, designed to impart in-depth knowledge and practical skills relevant to the agricultural sector. The program has a sanctioned intake capacity of 75 students per year. Admission to the college is based on academic merit derived from qualifying examinations, in line with the selection process followed by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. The curriculum emphasizes a balanced approach, combining theoretical classroom instruction with essential hands-on training and research exposure, particularly relevant to the coastal agro-climatic conditions.
