Established in 2015 as an autonomous Institute of National Importance under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, NID AP has swiftly emerged as a premier institution for design education.

The institute offers comprehensive Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and Master of Design (M.Des) programs. The B.Des program encompasses four specialized disciplines: Communication Design, Industrial Design, Textile and Apparel Design, and Film and Video Communication. For postgraduate studies, the M.Des program provides advanced learning in Film & Video Communication and Industrial Design. With an annual intake capacity of 125 students across its diverse offerings, NID AP ensures a focused learning environment guided by its dedicated team of 21 faculty members. Admission to these coveted programs is through the highly competitive NID Design Aptitude Test (NID DAT).
