It is the one and only malayalam univetsity, now it is in a temporary build, it is temporarily build in the campus of TMG college. It has a beautiful garden at its frontage. There is a small film theatere inside the campus. Canteen is there, temporary hostel fasility is available, university provides transportation facilities to students, it is suituated near to sea, its a peaceful area for students to study

Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University was established by the Government of Kerala in 2012. The initial Ordinance of 2012 was replaced in April 2013 by the Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University Act 2013. The University came into being on 1st November 2012. The objectives of the University are to formulate and implement various programmes in such way as to make proud about mother tongue and to encourage studies among malayalees. And imparting education at the post graduate level on different areas of Malayalam literature, science, humanities, social science and technology through Malayalam medium, Malayalam language and linguistics, comparative literature, Malayalam criticism, antique,ancient record, evolution of South Indian language scripts, history of scripts, tribal language study, regional language study, the study in the categories of Poem, Short Story, Novel, Study of Kerala Renaissance History, Science, Science and Technology and Social Sciences, Epigraphy,Archaeology and Museology, and Translation into and from Malayalam. Malayalam University offers only postgraduate courses and research programmes through the medium of Malayalam. The cultural and intellectual heritage of Kerala is a major area identified for postgraduate and specialized studies. The University is mandated to study, document and preserve various cultural expressions and manifestations. Besides, the University will also take up research work to make Malayalam resilient to the possibilities of IT. To make the study of Malayalam language, literature and culture more relevant to offer post graduate courses with high academic standards,.Malayalam University  has  initiated research in critical areas and undertook publication of books and journals. Ministry of Human Resources and Development has sanctioned the Centre of Excellence for Classical Malayalam to the Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University  to pursue activities aimed at enriching Malayalam language to the needs of the day and encourage translation of Malayalam works into other Indian and foreign languages and to conduct additional researches. In short, Malayalam University is actively engaged in  studies, activities and projects that would empower Malayalam language capable of handling any area of knowledge at all levels. Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University is an institution of excellence dedicated to the study of Kerala’s language, literature, arts and other cultural expressions, intellectual traditions and the life of people in depth, with a view to generating new perspectives, knowledge and ideas and connect them with the present. The University will constantly watch the contours of the contemporary cultural changes and evaluate its complexity and to equip along with Malayalam language and Kerala’s cultural and intellectual life to meet the challenges of the future.

Beautiful campus. It was established by the Government of Kerala and inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on 1 November 2012 in a function held in the premises of Thunchanparamba, the home of Thunchath Ezhuthachan in Tirur, Malappuram, Kerala. K. Jayakumar, a civil servant of the Indian Administrative Service cadre, who retired as the Chief Secretary of Kerala on 31 October 2012, prepared the Project Report of the university. He is the first Vice-Chancellor of Malayalam University. The university is named after Thunchaththu Ramanujan Ezhuthachan, a 16th-century CE Malayalam litterateure whose writings helped develop Malayalam as a language with a script of 51 letters, vocabulary, and literature. Thunchath Ezhuthachan was born at Trikkantiyur in Thunchan Parambu in Tirur, in the state of Kerala.
