This college offers UG and PG courses apart from Research Programmes . UG courses are offered in the following disciplines. B.A, B.B.A, B.COM , B.Sc in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology . PG courses offered are in Economics, Physics and Zoology . M.Phil and Doctoral programmes are also offered. The college is situated atop a small hillock . There are two pathways to the college . One is a motorable driveway and the otherone is an ascending open stairway . Another small hillock exist on it's right . Naturally trees and greenery can be seen on it's entire campus . I studied there doing my PRE UNIVERSITY COURSE , equivalent to the + 2 of today and completed my Under Graduation in B.Sc ( Chemistry) during the academic years 1968 to 1971. A learned Educationalist Shri. Ananthapadhmanabha Nadar was my Principal. A terror filled personality Shri .J.S.A .ALAN happened to be the Head of Zoology Department . He is strict to the core and a disciplinarian to the hilt . He commanded so much of respect and fear that we attended his classes with devotion and fervour. The GUIDE written by him for PUC was then very famous , that even students of ST. JOSEPH'S COLLEGE of TIRUCHY followed it . ST. JOSEPH'S COLLEGE was the most sought after college in the whole of TAMILNADU then. Those are golden days in my life . The atmosphere of the college was conducive to learning . I attended the college as a hostelier and the food offered at the hostel mess was great . The college then was for men , but now I think it is a co- education and a government aided college( Recently the college was made a GOVERNMENT COLLEGE ) . It was founded in the year 1954 . It was the only college in Erode which was then part and parcel of COIMBATORE district. I think VASAVI COLLEGE then started functioning in a private building in METTUR road . Once in a month a TAMIL CINEMA will be screened for the benefit of students in an open auditorium. The teaching fraternities of this institution are well experienced as well as most skilled in teaching. This college is placed on the heart of Erode city. An elegant atmosphere and tree filled campus gives peace of mind to the young learners. A self learning centred education system makes the students into leaders. Of course, this college produced many doctors, engineers and politicians because of it's unique policy in education.
