Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA) is a constituent unit of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (a deemed-to-be-university under UGC and an Institute of Eminence) at Manipal, Karnataka, India and was established in 1986 as a unit of Dr TMA Pai Foundation in partnership with the Hotels Division of ITC Ltd. The WGSHA Academic Block and the Culinary Arts Academic Block I and II collectively provide the latest infrastructure and facilities which include well-equipped, state-of-the-art kitchens and bakeries for contemporary learning experience meeting specialized training needs of the students at par with industry standards, two fully equipped restaurants (Rendezvous and Chhaya) for practical training in F & B Service skills. A fully equipped mock bar for demonstrations and practical work permits students to create, prepare and serve beverages & cocktails. The state of the art Front Office Training Lab brings students to real life environment of the hotel including room reservations, registration, guest relations, telephones, cashiering, guest accounting, revenue management and is also used for simulations and hands-on learning with hotel software like Oracle Opera, IDS etc. The Housekeeping Mock Guest Room is used for practical classes and demonstration of housekeeping operations and techniques The annexed hotel, 68 room Fortune Inn Valley View, located within the campus, facilitates practical, on-the-job-training for real world experiences for students. The WGSHA library has a specific collection of 12143 books and 876 CD-ROMs on hotel and allied disciplines. It subscribes to over 50 journals and magazines, including the International Journal of Hospitality Management, Cornell Hospitality Quarterly, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research, etc. Also, it subscribes e-journals & online databases, including Scopus, Web of Science, Sage, Springer, EBSCO (Hospitality and Tourism) Complete and CAC+HTLC (Culinary Arts Collection and Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure Collection). In addition to the IT services which provides to specialized computational needs of the institute, WGSHA's computer lab has over 35 desktops with latest configuration with Windows 10 and MS Office 2013. For the academic purpose, Opera, DietCal, Statistical and software for multimedia are available. The institute has more than 160 advanced computers with LAN and internet services, LCD projection systems, hardware and software, digital cameras, video cameras printers, scanners, photocopying machine etc. The two culinary arts academic blocks have a total built-in area of around 40,000 Sq. ft., encompassing innovative teaching and the cutting-edge facilities providing students with an in-depth understanding of todays most advanced culinary techniques and technologies. The department has well-equipped training kitchens and classrooms, including dedicated hot and cold kitchens (Eka, Kriya, Gourmet Creation), pastry and confectionary kitchens (Mithai, Prayog, Paaka - The Chocolate Studio), meat-cutting and fabrication labs; food photography labs, Training Restaurant (Classic Café) academic classroom spaces for interactions embedded with studio kitchens (Drishti, Shiksha 1 & 2)
