It was founded on 20 June 1887 by Raja Peary Mohan Mukherjee, a philanthropist and social reformer. It's located in the bank of hoogly river with a fantastic view of nature. The college offers undergraduate level courses in various arts, commerce and science subjects. It has a total enrollment of 1,984 students (2022). The college has a well-equipped infrastructure with modern facilities such as ICT-enabled classrooms, laboratories, seminar rooms, library, canteen, and gymnasium. Spent the golden three years of my life here. Nostalgic to me. That time, late 19's , this was the only college under Calcutta University in Hooghly district where Botany, Zoology and Physiology combination was available for Bio Science students
