As a resident of Calcutta I joined the Master of Laws Course at SKBU for its inaugural intake for the session 2021-2023. My stint in Purulia for around 21 months was a beautiful and fruitful time. The campus is sprawling and straddles the Ranchi Road on one side and the Purulia Kotshila Railway line on the other. Watching the verdant panorama from my classroom window as trains raced by and tractors stopped at the level crossing was peaceful on another level for someone habituated to the humdrum of City Life. Birdsong on windy days brought a smile to the most depressed of minds. Our classroom was air conditioned which was a lifesaver for the 45° summers of Purulia. As regards academics, our batch was led by 2 Guest Faculties and 2 Whole time Contractual Faculties. Our HOD was Dr. Amitava Mondal Sir of the Commerce department. Boys don't have a Hostel and that is sort of a downside but lodgings aplenty in Purulia town and 10 rupees shared totos shuttled by the dozen daily. The library is well stocked and air conditioned and was the den where we spent our study time . The canteen is run by local women as part of a Self Help Group called the Sampurna Pariseba Samabay Samity The food was delicious and wholesome and I can't thank it enough for being the sustainer of my stomach with their chicken fish curries, chops, noodles and coffee and curd. My mother who often visited Purulia with me, spent hours at the canteen as I attended my classes and was always well tended to by the staff. SKBU Purulia has and always remains a very dear asset to me.
Study For today
This is the only university of purulia. First it was under burdwan university after that it became autonomous. Here teachers and staff are very helpful. Railline connects between purulia - ranchi passes through it. Firstly when the university was established, classes were held in various places. But now one in all. I am an ex-student of this university. Proud of it.
