A 2009 pass out here! After completing my schoolings, I chose SKC for pursuing UG in biotech (in 2004; PG in 2007). Dr. Rajakumar was our Principal, who served as the Head of the Department too. Under his abled guidance, the Department performed very well, and it was him, who enriched the library with subject-books, set state-of-the-art laboratories (having equipment and resources equivalent to a national research institute) and employed learned Staff to teach the students. The college kept its resources open to all students, and we were encouraged to work in the laboratory (to experiment with anything we wish to!) beyond lab hours and even on semester holidays. I have spent more time in the lab than being in the classroom! Also, we had learned teachers, like Dr. P Theriappan, Dr. V Thangapandian, Dr. Ramesh Kannan, Dr. Pandidurai, who introduced us to the exciting world of biology. Dr. Rajakumar and Dr. Theriappan have notable roles in developing my interest towards plant biotechnology; and thanks to Dr. Theriappan who chose me to do my M.Sc. dissertation at the National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi, a life-changing moment that has ever happened in my life. Though I am pursuing plant science research as my career, my passion for microbiology will be evergreen, and this credit would go to Dr. Thangapandian. No matter what infrastructure the college has, the success of students is brought about by the teachers, and I will always be obliged to them. My love towards my college is never-ending, and I am a frequent visitor to the department to deliver guest lectures, and I had also served in the academic committee. I wish all the best to SKC to keep up with their vision and mission!!
