What is JEECUP (UPJEE Polytechnic)?
The Joint Entrance Examination Council, Uttar Pradesh (JEECUP), also known as UPJEE (Polytechnic), is a state-level entrance exam conducted annually for admission to diploma and post-diploma courses in engineering, technology, pharmacy, agriculture, and other technical fields offered by government, government-aided, and private polytechnic institutions across Uttar Pradesh. Established under the Uttar Pradesh Joint Entrance Examination Council, JEECUP aims to provide merit-based access to quality technical education, enabling students to acquire practical skills for immediate employment in industries like manufacturing, IT, healthcare, and agriculture.
The exam covers 10+ groups tailored to specific courses, with over 1.5 lakh candidates appearing yearly for approximately 1.2 lakh seats. Qualifying JEECUP opens doors to 3-year diplomas after Class 10 or lateral entry after Class 12, with global recognition through lateral transfers to B.Tech programs via exams like UPSEE or JEE Main. The process emphasizes equal opportunity, with reservations for SC/ST/OBC/EWS categories, and integrates online counselling for transparent seat allocation.
