Since the inception was primarily to serve the pupils willing to take Commerce stream, the college, since then, is also known by its popular sobriquet 'Commerce College'. The college currently offers honours courses in English, Bengali, History, Political Science, Accountancy, Philosophy, Geography, Mathematics and so on. It is situated just opposite to the Berhampore Stadium and just beside the All India Radio, Murshidabad Centre.
