Some leading citizens and academicians of Silchar mooted the idea of opening a college in the town. Accordingly, the idea was given a final shape in a meeting held on 25 April 1960 in the Sramik Kalyan Office. The process culminated in the birth of Cachar College on 20 June, 1960. Cachar College offers Intermediate and Undergraduate in Arts, Science and Commerce streams. In addition, the college offers self-financing career-oriented programs. As per government regulations, there is reservation of seats for Scheduled Cast, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Class and MOBC students. In addition, Tea Association of India (TAI) and Surma Valley Branch of Indian Tea Association (SVBITA) enjoy reservation under the donor quota.

College is good nd Teachers are also good but the workers are extremely very bad. They behave like they are neithr a human nd nor have humanity. Any people have atleast 1% humanity but their workers have -100% humanity they are provide very bad service. For the all upcoming aspirants I suggest try to the best of your ability to go to a private college(Ramanuj, Aryan etc...). At least you will get good behavior and good service there.
