Welcome to Dhenkanal Autonomous College Dhenkanal Odisha-759001 The College:- Established in 1959 at the backdrop of a picturesque landscape, Dhenkanal Autonomous College, Dhenkanal has carved a niche for itself in academic excellence not only in the state, but in the country as well. The results of the students testify to this honour. However, an endless pursuit of excellence being the motto, the College is forever making an endeavor to excel itself. To achieve this, it lays emphasis on a strategic planning that makes an assessment of its current functioning and the modus operandi of executing a higher mission that includes such crucial aspects like financial planning, budgeting, staffing and academic programming, which, in turn, would essentially relate to matching institutional commitments and the real, concrete benefits to the students. In addition to many a plan, the College intends to materialize, its primary mission that is to lay utmost emphasis on academic excellence and to reach the pinnacle of glory. It aims at effecting radical changes in the syllabi of all the programmes and in pedagogy. But it intends to develop the Commerce programme to the maximum possible extent. And there are reasons. The College provides Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes in Commerce. The performance of the students continues to be excellent. The rationale for this thrust on Commerce has to do with the business-friendly environment of the town. There are top quality steel plants in the town such as Bhusan, and there is NALCO in Angul, a nearby place. These plants provide employment opportunities to the students. Considering the technical nature of the subject, the Commerce students are much in demand. Apart from this consideration, the College intends to upgrade the Commerce programme to a center of higher research. The Institutional Development Proposal (IDP) envisages such future plans like building separate toilet galleries for boys and girls, modernization and upgradation of the existing library, building well-furnished hostels for ST and SC students, building e-classrooms, computer cells and Assistance Cells for redressing students’ problems. As regards improvement of academic excellence of teachers, greater focus would be given to research and innovation. This pantheon of wisdom and coliseum of learning, situated in the sylvan setting of forests, hills and mango groves has promised to achieve the goals and objectives in every aspect/field with the untiring efforts of its teaching and supporting staffs. The mission and vision of this premier institute are embedded in the crest of the college. Affiliation: The College being conferred with academic autonomy by the State Government, University Grants Commission, and Utkal University, all undergraduate and post graduate courses conducted by the college are affiliated to the Utkal University. The Academic Council of the College frames regulation and course syllabi for all courses, and are approved by the Executive Committee as per the Autonomous Scheme of the UGC.
