TKM Institute of Technology, started in 2002, was recognized as one of the premier private engineering colleges in Kerala. It was successful in imparting proper education in Kerala for the past few years. The institute is located on a 25-acre campus at Karuvelil, Ezhukone, 23 km from the heart of Kollam city. It is the first college to have a course on Food Technology in engineering. Earlier the institute was affiliated with the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). Now the institute is affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU). The TKM College Trust was registered as an Educational Trust on 20 December 1956, by Thangal Kunju Musaliar, an eminent educationalist and the doyen of the cashew industry. Besides common Engineering Courses, this college has Biomedical Engineering and Food Technology, which are two courses that have very good opportunities for growth. College is situated in a hilly area. From there we can see the natural beauty. Very eco-friendly and best climate, good infrastructure. You can breathe the pure oxygen and wander the area. College was in an area where not any kind of public transportation systems are available. Also ladies hostel was a bit away from college. But college provided all kinds of transportation facilities. Also, Hostel was near Kollam town. Transportation for dayscholars is difficult. If college bus is missed, they had to pay huge expenses to travel to college.
