B.L.D.E.A's V.P. Dr.P.G.Halakatti College of Engineering and Technology was established by the Bijapur Liberal District Education Association, Bijapur in the year 1980. It owes its name to Dr. P.G. Halakatti. It offers 9 undergraduate programs besides research programs in two disciplines. It is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in Belgaum and its undergraduate programs are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).The college is recognized by the AICTE (New Delhi) and approved by the Government of Karnataka. It is recognized as an authorized institute to transfer the technology and courses offered by the joint collaboration of VTU Belgaum.Recently NBA inspection has been done.

I studied here for 4 years. Facilities are good. Faculty is not up to the mark but some are really good. Labs are good. Library is very nice to study with a pretty good collection of books. The only bad thing is, this college comes under VTU Belagavi. Other than that everything is perfect.

If your thinking about taking admission in this college,I recommend you even stop thinking of entering this college campus.Basically the current principal is such a Gunda type he has no patience in listening to students problem at all. Even if students requests him politely he threatens the students and the way he interact to students is the most worst. I even heard many staff scolding him Bcoz of his behaviour and the way he treats the staff.To all the students out there who are currently planning to take admission pls do ask currently studying students about the college and decide whether to take admission or not.
