What is JEE Advanced?
JEE Advanced is a national-level entrance exam conducted by one of the seven zonal IITs. For 2026, IIT Roorkee will conduct this exam. JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2026
Criterion 1 - Performance in JEE Main 2026: Must be among top 2.5 lakh candidates (including all categories) in B.E./B.Tech. paper of JEE Main 2026

OBC-NCL: 67,500

ST: 18,750
PwD: 5% horizontal reservation in each category
Criterion 2 - Age Limit: Born on or after October 1, 2000 (5 years relaxation for SC/ST/PwD: born on or after October 1, 1995)
Criterion 3 - Number of Attempts: Maximum 2 attempts in 2 consecutive years (first appearance in Class XII in 2024 or 2026; special relaxation for dropouts Nov 5-18, 2024 allowing 3rd attempt)
Criterion 4 - Qualifying Examination:
First appearance in Class XII (or equivalent) in 2024 or 2026 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology/Biotechnology, and English
Minimum 75% aggregate (65% for SC/ST/PwD) or top 20 percentile in board exam
Candidates with results withheld before June 18, 2024 ineligible
