This college was established and known as “Robertson College” in 1836. Its name was changed into “Mahakoshal College” in 1947. The college was bifurcated and the arts college was named “Govt. Mahakoshal Arts” College” in 1962. Commerce stream was initiated and the name was again changed to – “Govt. Mahakoshal Arts and Commerce College” in 1983. The college is affiliated to “Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya” under University Grants Commission. It was granted autonomy in 1992.This is the best Art and comm. Govt college in jabalpur

Firstly it is Hindi and English medium college but almost teacher teach in Hindi only and Infrastructure is ok campus is also ok okNot big Library is there garden and ground most of time locked and also result declared very late supposed if you want to leave this college and addmission in another college it can't be possible because of late result declaration

The best college in jabalpur because it's autonomous and you don't need to go there consistently. Very minimal fee, and autonomous that make it awesome and it's co-ed college. Workers behave very rudely but teachers are good. Most of the time i goes there, looking was this college is not much cool but have its own gardon, library, play ground, etc

It was a great pleasure going to my college after a long time.. l attended Alumni function. Justice Divakar was the chief guest, other congress leaders, few senior professors and many ex students were present.Revived old memories.
