We visited this college on the first Sunday of May to participate in a marathon. The college is filled with a lot of trees that are too full in green and colorful flowers. It is well maintained as in summer this much beautiful nature I didn't expect.

A beautiful campus and that too in the middle of Bengaluru. Visited this place on an open day so I can't comment on the educational programs here. The campus is covered with trees and the ways are too confusing for an outsider. The overall experience was good and I hope this place contributes more to the society.

A Legacy of Excellence in Research and InnovationThe Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, is a premier institution that has been shaping India's scientific and technological landscape for over a century. Though officially established in 1909, its conceptualization began much earlier, thanks to the vision of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata.A Visionary BeginningIn 1889, inspired by the Convocation Address of Bombay University by Lord Reay, Tata envisioned a world-class research university in India. His dream was further reinforced by an accidental meeting with Swami Vivekananda aboard a steamer in 1893, where they discussed the need for advanced education and research. This conversation left a lasting impact on Tata, and in 1898, he wrote to Vivekananda, reaffirming his commitment to the cause.Tata pledged his wealth to establish this institution and formed a Provisional Committee led by educationist Burjorji Padshah to develop the framework. Their initial plan proposed the name Imperial University of India. On December 31, 1898, Tata’s delegation met the Viceroy of India, Lord Curzon, to present their proposal. After extensive discussions, the British government endorsed the idea, suggesting the name Indian University of Research. However, it was only after persistent efforts that IISc was officially established in 1909.A Hub of Scientific ExcellenceSince its inception, IISc has played a crucial role in advancing research across diverse fields, including aerospace, physics, biology, engineering, and artificial intelligence. The institution has been home to several eminent scientists, including Nobel laureate C.V. Raman, who served as its Director. It has contributed significantly to India’s space program, defense technology, and industrial research.Global RecognitionIISc consistently ranks among the top institutions worldwide. According to the QS World University Rankings 2024, it is ranked India’s best research institution and among the top 200 universities globally. It has also been recognized as the leading university for citations per faculty, highlighting its impactful research contributions. What Makes IISc Unique?Interdisciplinary Research: IISc fosters innovation by bridging diverse scientific disciplines.Strong Industry Collaboration: Partnerships with ISRO, DRDO, and private industries boost practical applications.World-Class Campus: Spread over 400 acres in Bangalore, the lush green campus is an ideal environment for research.Top-Tier Faculty: Home to some of India’s best minds in science and technology.Whether you are a student, researcher, or science enthusiast, a visit to IISc is inspiring. With its historic buildings, cutting-edge labs, and a legacy of scientific excellence, IISc is truly India’s pride on the global stage.
