It has ranked 89 among universities in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2022. It has published or prepared and issued more than 6000 publications or journals. The few notable ex-students are Susmita Bose, Indian - American Scientists and Professor, Binalendu Sinha Roy, Indian Politician, Mihir Kanti Chaudhuri, Indian Chemist, Koushik Kar, Indian Actor, Babar Ali, (He is youngest Headmaster in the world), Arijit Singh, Indian Playback Singer, Composer and music producer. Raja Saha, Molecular Biologist etc etc. Here the courses are at Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral levels. It was established on Ist November, 1960 and administered by the Government of West Bengal. It is affiliated to the University Grants Commission and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council in 2015 as a Grade 'A'.

This is one of the top universities in West Bengal. I have visited this university many times. Very beautiful campus, lots greenery, and very helpful departments and cooperative staffs. Many landmark places are there. One such place is Banyan Hall.

A huge area with plenty of open space. Faculty is good for most of the departments. Only missing thing is waiting enclosure. University Authority should think of visitors arena. At present the visitors(not tourist) are bound to loiter here & there during the waiting time who have come for official purposes.

A great place to earn higher degree, away from city crowd and mob. Serene atmosphere makes this university a cool place for higher study. You must stay in campus hostel to take the maximum out it. A friendly university indeed fo all!

Overall good experience, I visit this university for RTI application, RTI departments stuff well mannered, and good behaviour 😊.
