We admitted our 85+ year old father for an Emergency Hernia Surgery on 18th June 2024. Before this at many places we were informed that at your father's age we can only suggest tight scrotal support (tight kowpinam or komanam-Tamil) and to avoid Constipation, considering his age. However, at Chettinad Hospital, Kelambakkam, whom we were referred through a relative, after she shared the pictures of my father's very dire state of Inguinal Herniation, which was life threatening, Dr ARK (Dr Anantha Ramakrishna) agreed to operate the very next day of seeing the pictures sent through WhatsApp. Spot ICU admission and spot operation took place and afterwards Dr ARK shared the pictures of the successful operation of putting back more than 15 cm of extended bowels back into the stomach- a miracle for us ! In our family circles Dr ARK has become a legendary figure. The way he took the bold decision to operate upon my dear old father and successfully discharged after 18 days stay is remarkable. We are grateful to the team lead by Dr ARK (HoD -General Surgery) along with Dr Mahadevan, Dr Amrit, Dr Vijay, Dr Anshu, from General Surgery Team, ICU doctors Dr Radhakrishnan & Dr Guhan. Later the team led by Dr Vigneshwaran (General Medicine) corrected the balance between cardio and other issues. A special mention for Dr. Chihnita who was like a mother (Doctors are usually very motherly in nature) constantly updating Dr ARK and team and getting proper solutions. She was a great support throughout our successful stay at Chettinad Hospital. The billing section was also very accommodating specially Mr Vijay. All the nurses were excellent in service and ward boys Mr Murugesan (night shift) and Mr Dhunnu Ravi Das (Day Shift) from Assam, who never shrinked their noses while performing their allotted duties of cleaning the soiled bedsheets and underpads early every morning. Once again we express our gratitude to the whole team of Chettinad Hospital for performing this miraculous surgery on my 85+ 'young' dear father ! As the popular saying goes, for a cure:- Doctor's treatment and God's grace- both are necessary! Much Grateful to the Divine Mother of this Universe !
