Courses Offered at Institute of Legal Studies, Himachal Pradesh University: UG, PG & PhD Programs- Shimla

The University Institute of Legal Studies offers over several courses at UG, PG, and PhD levels in the streams of Law. BA LLB (Honours) is the flagship course of University Institute of Legal Studies offered based on academic merit and qualifying examinations. Besides, University Institute of Legal Studies also offers other law programs like LLB and LLM.

The University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), a constituent institute of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), provides two distinct Undergraduate (UG) degrees – the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and the integrated Bachelor of Arts Bachelor of Legislative Law (BA LLB (Honours)), which has an intake of 120 seats. Furthermore, UILS offers one Postgraduate (PG) program, the Master of Laws (LLM). These programs are offered across the Law stream. The LLM program at UILS further offers five distinct specializations, including Criminal Law, International Law, and Human Rights, among others.

UG Programs

• Eligibility: For the BA LLB (Honours), completion of 10+2 with minimum 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST) is required. For the LLB program at University Institute of Legal Studies, a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University with minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) is essential.
• Minimum Academic Requirement: As stated above, a minimum percentage in the qualifying examination is mandatory, subject to program specific criteria.
