Situated in the heart of the capital, this institution is one of India’s oldest for higher studies. It was established in 1866 under the visionary leadership of His Highness Sri Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma, the Maharaja of that time. The college offers various undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. In the NIRF India Ranking 2020, it secured the 23rd rank and received an ‘A’ grade from NAAC.During my visit to the college, I was struck by its typical Travancore style architecture. The old Indo-Gothic design was marvelous, with classrooms that have remained in good condition for over 150 years. The wooden stairs, iron pillars, and other features transport us back in time, prompting us to appreciate the quality of infrastructure provided to students during that era. However, today, despite efforts to conserve the building, the quality of service and maintenance has declined significantly. The surroundings are poorly maintained, with dirty rooms and spiderwebs hanging from the roof. Some areas have replaced the traditional clay roof with metal roofing, distorting its original charm. Addressing the plants growing on the roof is necessary. Additionally, the cleanliness of the toilets leaves much to be desired.I recommend improving the lighting in the classroom. At the last bench, the light is insufficient, and shadows fall on the desk, making it challenging to read or study. This issue should be addressed promptly.Parking vehicles on the ground is not an issue.

Not a nice college to send your kids to. If the students here get ranks, it's only because of their own efforts. The teachers here are mere puppets. It's an institution for training students for political activities. Some teachers are also here only for their political activism. The standard and culture of students is also very low and are extremely problematic. Definitely not a place recommended for higher education. Does not deserve even a single star. 👎👎👎
