Academic Eligibility For Keam

Candidates applying for Kerala Engineering Agricultural Medical Entrance Examination must have:
  • Passed Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or equivalent with specific subjects.
  • 45% for General category in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry/Biotechnology/Computer Science/Biology put together; 40% for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes.
  • Required subjects: Science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology/Computer Science).

Age Limit And Relaxation

The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Kerala, mandates that applicants for KEAM 2025 must be at least 17 years old as of December 31, 2025. There is no relaxation for this minimum age requirement. For Engineering, Architecture, and B.Pharm courses, there is no specified upper age limit. However, for MBBS and BDS courses, the upper age limit is determined by the NEET UG 2025 guidelines. This absence of an upper age limit for many courses means that specific age relaxations for categories like SC/ST, OBC-NCL, or PwD are not applicable in terms of extending an upper age limit, as none exists.

Keam Category Wise Criteria

The KEAM Kerala Engineering Agricultural Medical Entrance Examination 2025 offers various relaxations for candidates belonging to specific reserved categories, as outlined by the Office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Kerala. These benefits primarily include adjustments in qualifying marks. For instance, socially backward categories may receive a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks. Notably, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) candidates do not have a minimum marks requirement in the KEAM Engineering Entrance Examination itself, provided they attempt at least one question in each paper. To avail of these category-based benefits, candidates are required to upload valid and up-to-date category certificates, such as Non-Creamy Layer Certificates, Community Certificates, or Income Certificates, during the online registration process. The verification of these documents will strictly follow the official protocol established by the conducting authority, ensuring that only eligible candidates receive the intended concessions.

Nationality, Domicile, And Foreign Applicants

The KEAM Kerala Engineering Agricultural Medical Entrance Examination 2025 is primarily open to Indian citizens. Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cardholders are also eligible to apply and are treated on par with Indian nationals for admission purposes. However, it is important to note that OCI/PIO candidates are not eligible for any reservation benefits. For this state-level examination, candidates are primarily categorized into 'Keralite', 'Non-Keralite Category I (NK I)', and 'Non-Keralite Category II (NK II)' based on their domicile. Keralite candidates are those of Kerala origin, which can be proved through documents like an SSLC certificate, passport, or birth certificate showing a birthplace in Kerala, or through a certificate from a Village Officer/Tehsildar. Children of All India Service (AIS) officers allotted to the Kerala cadre are also deemed Keralites, though they are not eligible for communal or special reservations. Non-Keralite Category I generally includes candidates who have completed their 8th to 12th standard education in Kerala or whose non-Keralite parents are employed by the Government of India or Defence Service and posted in Kerala. Non-Keralite Category II candidates are eligible for admission to government and management quota seats in B.Tech programs offered by government-controlled self-financing colleges and private self-financing engineering colleges, specifically if Keralite and NK I candidates are unavailable. NRI and other foreign applicants should directly verify their specific eligibility guidelines with individual colleges or the examination authorities to ensure they meet all conditions before applying.

Nationality Requirements

  • Indian citizens, including Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI).

Number Of Attempts

Before preparing for KEAM Kerala Engineering Agricultural Medical Entrance Examination 2025, it is essential for aspirants to understand the regulations regarding the number of attempts permitted. The Office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Kerala, does not impose any restriction on the number of times a candidate can attempt the KEAM examination. This means that, unlike some national-level competitive exams such as UPSC or JEE Advanced, candidates for KEAM 2025 can appear for the test as many times as they wish, provided they meet all other eligibility criteria each time. Since there is no maximum number of attempts specified, category-based relaxations for additional attempts are not applicable for this examination. Being aware of this allows candidates to plan their preparation strategy effectively without the pressure of a limited number of chances, enabling them to focus on achieving their best possible score whenever they choose to apply.
