Academic Eligibility For Nmat

Candidates applying for NMAT by GMAC must have:
  • Bachelor's Degree (10+2+3 or 10+2+4 format) in any discipline from a recognized university or equivalent
  • No minimum percentage specified by GMAC for the exam, but most accepting institutes require a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Required subjects: All academic streams (Arts, Commerce, Science, Engineering, etc.) are eligible

Age Limit And Relaxation

For NMAT by GMAC 2025, there is no strict upper age limit set by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). Similarly, no specific minimum age criteria are defined for the examination itself. Age relaxations or specific age criteria, if any, are typically determined by the individual participating colleges or institutes during their admission processes, rather than by the NMAT by GMAC exam authority. The exam is open to candidates of all age groups who meet the academic eligibility criteria.

Nmat Category Wise Criteria

The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), which conducts the NMAT by GMAC 2025 examination, does not specify a reservation policy or offer category-based relaxations (such as in age, fees, or qualifying marks) for the exam itself. Any benefits related to reserved categories are determined and applied by the individual participating colleges and institutes based on their own admission policies and government guidelines. To claim such benefits during college admissions, candidates are required to upload valid and up-to-date category certificates, and verification will follow the official protocol set by the respective admitting institution.

Nationality, Domicile, And Foreign Applicants

NMAT by GMAC 2025 is open to Indian citizens. Valid OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) and PIO (Person of Indian Origin) cardholders are also generally eligible to apply. As NMAT by GMAC is a national-level examination accepted by institutions across India and in several other countries, there are no specific domicile requirements imposed for the examination itself. However, for admissions to state-level quotas within certain colleges, a domicile certificate of the respective state might be required by the individual institution. NRI and foreign applicants are typically eligible, provided they hold a recognized bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% marks. For candidates from non-English speaking countries, demonstrating English proficiency through tests like TOEFL or IELTS may be required by the individual colleges.

Nationality Requirements

  • Indian citizens are eligible. Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), and Foreign nationals can also apply to specific institutes accepting NMAT scores

Number Of Attempts

Before preparing for NMAT by GMAC 2025, it is essential to know if there is a cap on the number of attempts. Most national-level exams allow unlimited attempts, but some, such as UPSC, JEE Advanced, or CLAT UG, impose restrictions. For NMAT by GMAC, candidates are permitted to take the examination a maximum of three times within a single testing year. This includes one initial attempt and up to two retake attempts. 'No-shows' are also counted as attempts. The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) does not offer any category-based relaxations concerning the number of attempts allowed for the NMAT by GMAC examination.

Attempt Restrictions

A minimum of 15 days gap is required between two consecutive attempts. The best score out of the three attempts is considered for admissions
