WBJEE 2025 Eligibility Criteria – Age, Qualification, Attempts & Reservation

For WBJEE 2025, candidates must have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board. General category applicants are required to secure a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in the three compulsory subjects, while reserved category candidates (SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) need at least 40% aggregate marks. An important criterion across all categories is a minimum of 30% marks in English in the 12th standard qualifying examination. For engineering courses, Physics and Mathematics are compulsory subjects, along with one optional subject from Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, Computer Application, Technical Vocational Subject, Electronics, Information Technology, Informatics Practices, Agriculture, Engineering Graphics, Business Studies, or Entrepreneurship. For pharmacy courses, the compulsory subjects are Physics, Chemistry, and either Mathematics or Biology. Individual pass marks in both theory and practical components (where applicable) for all three main subjects are essential. Candidates currently appearing for their 12th standard examinations in 2025 are also eligible to apply, provided they submit proof of passing at the time of admission. All recognized boards, including CBSE, ISC, WBCHSE, and NIOS, are accepted. Jadavpur University has a specific requirement for engineering courses, mandating 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (55% for reserved categories) and 60% overall. For architecture courses, candidates must have a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics combined, in addition to a valid JEE Main Paper 2 or NATA score.

Before applying for WBJEE 2025, it is important to check the age criteria set by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board. The minimum age for candidates is 17 years as of December 31, 2025. This means a candidate should have been born on or before December 31, 2008. For most undergraduate engineering and technology courses, there is no strict upper age limit, allowing a broad range of applicants. However, for those aspiring to pursue a degree-level Marine Engineering course, a specific upper age limit of 25 years as of December 31, 2025, is applicable. Knowing the age rules in advance ensures applicants meet the permitted criteria and are aware of any specific course-related age restrictions.

WBJEE 2025 may offer relaxations for candidates belonging to specific reserved categories as per West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board guidelines. These benefits primarily include reduced qualifying marks, where SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, and PwD categories require a minimum of 40% aggregate marks in the compulsory subjects, as opposed to 45% for the general category. To avail these benefits, candidates must possess and upload valid and up-to-date category certificates during the online registration process. To prove domicile, candidates generally need to show evidence of 10 years of continuous residence in West Bengal or having studied in the state for a minimum of 5 years. The domicile certificate must be produced during the counselling process. For NRI and foreign applicants, limited seats may be available, and specific eligibility guidelines should be verified directly with individual colleges or authorities, especially for courses like Architecture which might require a valid JEE Main Paper 2 or NATA score. Before preparing for WBJEE 2025, it is essential to know if there is a cap on the number of attempts. The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board does not impose any restriction on the number of times a candidate can appear for the WBJEE examination.
